Breech presentation at 36 weeks of pregnancy: Combined use: Acupuncture & Moxibustion treatment
Towards the end of pregnancy, most babies will rotate into a head down position in preparation for birth. Breech, or head-up position, occurs in 3-5% of pregnancies at term, and typically indicates either an external rotation of baby (by obstetricians), or a caesarean birth if this rotation (external cephalic version) is not your preferred option (or this is not successful).
Research advises that acupuncture combined with moxibustion may reduce the need for elective caesarean section. Acupuncture can assist breech babies in several ways, by relieving muscular tension, and emotional stress.
This individualized treatment consists of:
- A full consultation to ensure you have all the information you need to encourage an optimum position for delivery (baby head down), using the ‘Spinning Babies Techniques’.
- Acupuncture to known safe points after 36 weeks of pregnancy
- Moxibustion information and sticks so that you can continue this treatment at home.
